welcome to the summit area ymca FAMILY!

Berkeley Heights YMCA

everyone is welcome AT THE SUMMIT AREA YMCA!

Founded in 1886, the Summit Area YMCA has a history steeped in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income and background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our members are the heart of our community and our most valued assets! Our holistic approach to wellness focuses on building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Our branches are vital, vibrant, and valued centers in the community, which provide meaningful experiences for individuals and families. The Summit Area YMCA is a place where...

  • Parents find a safe, positive environment for children to learn good values, social skills and behaviors.
  • Families come together to have fun and spend quality time with each other.
  • Children and teens play, learn who they are and what they can achieve, and are accepted.
  • Adults connect with friends, pursue interests and learn how to live healthier.
  • Communities thrive because neighbors support each other and give back.
  • We all build relationships that further our sense of belonging and purpose.

The Summit Area YMCA is committed to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We are a cause driven, volunteer led, non-profit organization working to support and strengthen the foundations of community.

As a nonprofit, we are committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families in our community. With the generous donations of members, donors, and partners in the community from funds raised during our Annual Campaign and special events, the Summit Area YMCA is able to offer financial assistance to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Financial assistance can be used for membership, child care, summer camp and/or enrichment and sports programs where additional fees apply, such as soccer and swimming lessons.
