Founded in 1886, the Summit Area YMCA has a history steeped in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income and background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Because being a part of our Y family means you'll be close to 'home' everywhere you go. Whether you are traveling on the west coast for business or visiting relatives down south, all Ys are open to Y members to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone - no matter where you are. Nationwide Membership is an essential part of our collaborative cause to strengthen communities across the nation.
We at the Y realize that in order to better the world around us and for the future, we must unite and work towards the strengthening of the individual in mind, body and spirit.. For a stronger individual. For a united community. For a better us.
*For joining Berkeley Heights YMCA Members: The benefits of nationwide membership reciprocity are eligible for All-In-One Family and All-In-One Adult members only. Other restrictions may apply and/or vary among participating Ys.

As a nonprofit, we are committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families in our community. With the generous donations of members, donors, and partners in the community from funds raised during our Annual Campaign and special events, the Summit Area YMCA is able to offer financial assistance to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Financial assistance can be used for membership, child care, summer camp and/or enrichment and sports programs where additional fees apply, such as soccer and swimming lessons.
