•Pickleball was invented in 1965 by three dads on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
•It has nothing to do with pickles! A popular story credits a family dog named Pickles, but co-inventor Joan Pritchard said the name came from the “pickle boat,” the crew in rowing made up of leftover rowers.
•It’s a sport for all ages and abilities, and there are even official wheelchair rules.
•Getting “pickled” means losing a game without scoring a single point (like losing 11–0).
•The “kitchen” is the non-volley zone near the net, not a place for food!
