Celebrating National Volunteer Week at the Summit Area YMCA

At the Summit Area YMCA, we know that our volunteers are the heart of our community. Their dedication and generosity help us make a meaningful impact, and we are thrilled to celebrate them during National Volunteer Week!

Join Us for Super Saturday & A Friendly Competition

One of the highlights of the week is our Super Saturday Food Drive on April 19. We’re bringing together all Group Ex classes for a fun and competitive challenge—who can collect the most food donations?

How You Can Participate:

Bring Non-Perishable Food – Bring your donations to any of the group exercise classes at either the Summit YMCA or the Berkeley Heights YMCA.

Join the Fun – Our instructors will be playing live versions of songs from past concerts that have raised awareness and funds to combat hunger around the world.

Get Involved –Not up for class? You may still bring nonperishables to the Y and join in the giving! This year, we’re adding a bit of friendly competition between the classes. The group that collects the most food will earn bragging rights for the rest of the week, and we can’t wait to see which class rises to the challenge.

The winning class will receive guest passes to our outdoor pools!

Not up for class? You may still bring nonperishables to the Y and join in the giving!

Honoring Our Volunteers in Special Ways

To show our deep gratitude, we have several initiatives planned throughout the week:

Volunteer Recognition Display – Just like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, our volunteers will have their names displayed in gold stars throughout the lobbies of both the Berkeley Heights and Summit YMCAs. Their contributions deserve the spotlight, and we’re rolling out the red carpet in appreciation of their service

Volunteer Coffee Hour – Join us at the Berkeley Heights YMCA on April 22 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM for a special coffee hour to celebrate our volunteers and connect with fellow members.

Thank You to Our Volunteers!

Whether you’re giving your time, talent, or resources, your contributions make a difference in the lives of so many. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make the Summit Area YMCA a stronger, more connected community.

YMCA NEWS

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.

Please note that the section of Maple Street closest to the Summit YMCA will be closed from approximately 7 AM to 11 AM on Sunday, May 5, for our Mother’s Day 5K. Please use Cedar Street to access the public lot that is next to our building.
