The Special Needs Programs at the Summit Area YMCA are thoughtfully designed for youth with communication, social, behavioral and learning differences to thrive in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. Our mission is to encourage, help, build and strengthen healthy physical activity, confidence, social skills and more. Participants can enjoy a variety of activities that promote health, wellness, creative enrichment, socialization and more.
Fridays in Motion events are hosted for teens ages 14-21 with diverse abilities, one Friday night per month from 7:00PM - 9:00PM.
This FREE monthly themed social event encompasses 2 hours of activities with like minded individuals, is run in partnership with the Berkeley Heights YMCA, Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and St. Bartholomew Church of Scotch Plains by volunteers who engage the children through games, activities, arts and crafts.
Event locations alternate between Berkeley Heights YMCA, Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA & St. Bartholomew Church. This is a drop off event, intended for like minded teens to socialize together. Families are not permitted to participate in activities. PARTICIPATION IS FREE & OPEN TO ALL (MEMBERS, NON-MEMBERS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS), but spaces are limited.
