The Summit Area YMCA offers a variety of sports programs for youth and adults, where we teach the basic skills and rules of the sport for age-appropriate rallies and games with others with a specific focus on the important values of sportsmanship and fair play. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Summit Area YMCA works side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income and background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Each year, we serve more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services, through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners. Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Applicants must live or work in the Summit Area YMCA service area which includes Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Financial assistance can be used for membership, child care, summer camp, enrichment and sports programs where additional fees apply, such as soccer and swimming lessons.

interested in becoming a Volunteer Coach?

We’d love to have you! The Summit Area YMCA is a cause-driven, volunteer-led organization. Our volunteers are advocates for a better tomorrow. We view them as shining examples of social responsibility selflessly sharing their time, talent and treasure to advance the Y’s cause and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families locally.

All interested volunteers will be asked to fill out an application. Once your application is received, it will be forwarded to the Branch Volunteer Coordinator at your preferred location who will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and schedule an interview. To ensure the highest level of safety for our members and children, we are very careful with our employee and volunteer selection. Most volunteer positions will require your completion of new volunteer paperwork and online training, along with reference checks and your approval for a criminal background check. Please contact us directly for more information.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
