Summit Area YMCA Appoints Tammy Como to Lead Berkeley Heights YMCA

SUMMIT, NJ – The Summit Area YMCA is pleased to announce the appointment of Tammy Como as the new Executive Director of the Berkeley Heights YMCA, effective September 8, 2025.

Tammy brings over twenty years of YMCA leadership experience to her new role, most recently serving as the Executive Director of Aquatics and Risk Management at the YMCA of Montclair. With a strong background in risk management, aquatics, and camp, Tammy is highly skilled in fiscal management, program evaluation, and program innovation. Throughout her career, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to increase program enrollment, strengthen operational performance, and create lasting impact for the communities she serves.

Tammy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. She is actively engaged in YMCA leadership development, holding certifications as a YMCA Multi-Team Leader and Praesidium Guardian. She is also a member of Y-USA’s Thought Leadership Cohorts for Swim Lessons and Operational Excellence, where she contributes to advancing best practices across the YMCA movement.

With her extensive experience and dedication to the Y’s mission, Tammy is well-positioned to guide the Berkeley Heights YMCA into its next chapter of growth and service. The Summit Area YMCA looks forward to welcoming Tammy to the Berkeley Heights community and the SAY family as she begins this important leadership role.
