Taking care of your mind matters just as much as taking care of your body. From Monday, October 5 through Saturday, October 10, the Summit Area YMCA is marking Mental Health Awareness Week with special classes at both Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights YMCA, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Green is the color of mental health awareness. Show your support by wearing green to the Y all week long. We’ll be handing out green wristbands in group exercise classes, so grab one and wear it as a reminder to check in on yourself and each other.
Yoga Nidra with Laurie
Friday, October 9 | 6:00-7:30pm | Berkeley Heights YMCA
Ninety minutes to breathe, relax and let go. Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation practice done lying down, designed to help quiet a busy mind and release tension. No experience needed.
We Are Not Alone: Hatha Yoga with Sharyn
Saturday, October 10 | 8:00-9:00am | Summit YMCA
Start your Saturday with a Hatha practice focused on steady breath, mindful movement and connection. A welcoming class for every level.
Dance Your Mind Clear: Zumba and Mindful Meditation
Saturday, October 10 | 10:30-11:30am | Summit YMCA
Move, sweat and smile through an upbeat Zumba session paired with mindful meditation. It’s a feel-good way to shake off stress and reset.
Mental Health Awareness Week wraps up on October 10, but the conversation doesn’t have to. Join us for one more bonus class the following week:
Stepping Up for Mental Health: Pop-Up Step Class with Heather

A quick, energizing 30-minute pop-up step class to carry the spirit of the week forward and show that every step counts.

POOL CLOSURE: Both pools at the Summit YMCA will be closed on Sunday, October 4 for a swim meet. Lap swim will be available from 7:00 to 7:30 AM only. Thank you for your patience, and let’s go Seals!
