At the Summit Area YMCA, we’re passionate about fostering a lifelong love of swimming, and we’re proud to see many of our swimmers go on to compete at the YMCA, high school, and college levels. So why wait? Dive into the excitement this summer and join our community of swimmers!

Both our Berkeley Breakers Swim Team and the Springfield Community Pool Swim Team compete in the North Jersey Summer Swim League, and are again in the same Division this year! The season runs from June 15th, with meets beginning the week of June 29th, and concluding the final week of July. There are 8 dual meets, a Division Championship Meet, and an overall league championship, the Meet of Champions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Our summer rec teams are open to children ages 5 to 18. Swimmers MUST be at least 5 years of age by June 1, 2026 in order to participate.
• All new swimmers are required to try out for both summer teams. The tryout will take place on the first day of practice and will consist of the normal pool swim test. Swimmers must demonstrate proficiency in both front crawls and backstroke through consistent forward motion and rotary breathing, swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke consecutively, touch the bottom of the pool, jump into deep water and safely resurface, be able to tread water for 1 minute while demonstrating stamina and efficient body motion throughout the duration of the evaluation.
