2021 LOL Charity Auction & Comedy Night

Saturday, September 18, 2021, 7:00 PM

The Summit Area YMCA is keeping its tradition alive of making people laugh for a good cause by hosting its Annual Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Charity Auction and Comedy Night on September 18, 2021—and you're invited! The event will take place at 7:00 PM and you can join us in person or virtually, in our transformed outdoor oasis at the brand-new Berkeley Heights YMCA (limited space available, COVID-19 protocols apply*) or online from the comfort of your own home.

As our guest, you'll enjoy a memorable evening of laughter, food and drinks in good company with the opportunity to bid on and win a variety of fabulous auction items all in support of the Y. Most importantly, it will be a night of raising funds to further our mission and strengthen our local community. Help fight food insecurity in our neighbors homes, provide a place for cancer survivors to reclaim their health, offer a nurturing environment for children of working families, and more—all by supporting the Summit Area YMCA!

LOL Charity auction and comedy night is sold out!

Attendees who purchased tickets should have received an email on 9/17 with event information including the livestream link for virtual attendees. If you purchased tickets but did not receive our email, please contact us.

Not sure how to bid on auction items? Don't worry, here are step-by-step instructions on how to sign into the online silent auction portal, bid on items in person, how to donate to the Y, receiving your auction item, and frequently asked questions to ensure you are confident and ready to bid on these fabulous items!

*Please note, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours will be required to attend the in-person event. The event is scheduled to take place in-person, outside at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. No rain date is planned. In the event of thunderstorms or severe weather, we will move the event inside. A virtual attendance option is also available, for guests to participate online via livestream. Virtual tickets include appetizers, desserts, and wine, available for pick up at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, prior to the event.

Veteran auctioneer Pat Tully and comedians Joanne Filan and John Poveromo are guaranteeing a night full of laughs.

Mr. Tully is no wallflower when it comes to igniting a spark in a room and holding the audience’s attention. He is as comfortable on stage with A-list celebrities as he is sincere with cancer patients who share their very personal stories. He works the crowd with ease and grace and he didn’t hesitate when he had the chance to convince Rod Stewart to break into a duet. He has performed live auctions with celebrities including Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jamie Foxx, Adrian Grenier, Kenan Thompson, and many others.

"As a proud member of the YMCA in NYC, I know how important The Y is for my community and the for the people who depend on its services. As an Auctioneer, I was attracted to the event because I thought LOL was an acronym for 'Lots of (auction) Lots' - turns out that it's short for something else. Who knew? I look forward to bringing the energy, fun and skills necessary to raise important funds for the Summit Area Y. Let's go!" -Patrick Tully

Growing up in New Jersey, Joanne Filan has made her way around the comedy club scene and around the comedy country. Performing at well-known places such as The Friars Club, Broadway Comedy Club, Caroline's, Greenwich Village Comedy Club and more, not to mention a fixture in the traveling show, “The Broads of Broadway”, she is well known in the comedy world. She even reaches the masses through her TV and media appearances, including Hulu, Fox, Amazon, Here TV, Comedy Time TV, and in "Comics Favorite Jokes" in the NY Post.

John Poveromo is a Brooklyn-born, Jersey-raised comedian who can be seen in his new short film on Amazon Prime titled, “Duppet.” He can also be heard on SiriusXM radio, has appeared on FX’s Gotham Live and is the host of his own live video podcast titled “Dystopia Tonight.”

“I’m really looking forward to working with the LOL Charity Auction because doing anything that helps give back to the community is honestly one of the best ways to use my talent, and I’m always happy to help when I can.” - John Poveromo

LOL is made possible by a number of generous community sponsors, including its gold sponsors, Bristol Myers Squibb, Summit Dental Partners, USA Architects, Vericon Construction, and the William Gross Charitable Fund, as well as its platinum sponsor, Capital Group.
