Falls are the leading cause of injury related ER visits for older adults, the major cause ofhip fractures and responsible for more than half of fatal
head injuries. Use this week to raise awareness and prevent falls.
September 30 is National Day of Remembrance (also known as Orange ShirtDay) where Indigenous Peoples who have been (and/or continue to be) impacted by
residential boarding schools are honored and commemorated for their experiences.
Use this opportunity to encourage your staff and members to wear orange, and to
learn more about this observance.

World Homeless Day is October 10, an international observance to raiseawareness about the needs of people who currently experience
homelessness and promote work in local communities
to alleviate suffering and death. Use this opportunity to bring awareness to the
Y’s work surrounding homelessness in our communities.
