peace, and focusing on our individual and collective responsibility to foster
peace in our own communities. Use this opportunity to promote your Y’s
community-connectedness and your commitment to welcoming all.

Fall Prevention Awareness Day

Falls are the leading cause of injury related ER visits for older adults, the major cause ofhip fractures and responsible for more than half of fatal
head injuries. Use this week to raise awareness and prevent falls.

National Day of Rememberance

September 30 is National Day of Remembrance (also known as Orange ShirtDay) where Indigenous Peoples who have been (and/or continue to be) impacted by
residential boarding schools are honored and commemorated for their experiences.
Use this opportunity to encourage your staff and members to wear orange, and to
learn more about this observance.

World Teachers Day

Held annually to commemorate teacher organizations worldwide.

National Child Health Day

In recognition of National Child Health Day, demonstrate how your Y is nurturing the potential of youth by sharing nutritional tips and program offerings that

World Mental Health Day

Spirt Day/Antibullying

LGBTQ youth disproportionately face bullying and harassment because of their identities. Each year, millions go purple for Spirit Day to support LGBTQ youth in
a united stand against bullying. Pledging to “go purple” on Spirit Day is a way for
everyone to visibly show solidarity with youth and to take part in the largest, most
visible LGBTQ anti-bullying campaign in the world
