NURTURING SUMMIT'S CHILDREN SINCE 1954

The Learning Circle YMCA Childcare Center is a full-service childcare program, offering care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, Pre-K, and Kindergarten children. It is more than just a place to play, it’s where purposeful activities and caring guidance spark a lifelong love of learning.

All of our early education programs at the Y implement The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos and The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. These are state-approved, research-based curriculums that consist of 38 objectives our teachers use for planning and assessment. The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos supports teachers in creating both routines and individual experiences for our little ones. The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool helps teachers build on children’s confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills, while promoting positive outcomes through studies, which are hands-on, project based investigations.

ENGAGING CLASSROOMS

The Learning Circle YMCA is a 25,000 square foot facility with 17 rooms for children to play, learn and thrive daily. Our classrooms are designed and furnished to provide an age appropriate setting and curriculum.

To further promote learning and inclusion we engage our students as well as their families by hosting a number of education, inspirational and most of all fun themed events all year, like: characters birthdays, dress up days, Fitness challenges, the “Olympics”, Summer Carnival, 100 Days of School, on-site animal visits, holiday breakfasts, dances, parades, and so much more!

NURTURING TEACHERS

Experienced, caring childcare staff and licensed, certified teachers make your child their #1 priority. We strive to make our center a home-away-from-home, where your child feels confident, connected and secure to learn new things and discover his or her potential.

CREATIVE CURRICULUM

The Creative Curriculum serves as our foundation for learning and is integrated into all we do as we teach children at our center. It provides teachers with a full year of step-by-step guides, lesson plans, and resources for implementing a content rich program that is appropriate for children who may have a wide range of developmental levels and abilities. Parents, kids, and educators all agree it’s a really good thing!

FRESH FOOD PREPARED DAILY

On-site at the Learning Circle YMCA is a full size, restaurant-style kitchen where fresh food and meals (included in your tuition) are prepared for 200+ children are daily.

Our dietary plan is guided by the CACFP nutrition standards for meals and snacks, based on the National Academy of Medicine’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans and includes a larger variety of vegetables and fruits, more whole grains, less sugar and saturated fat. By serving well-rounded healthy meals to young children, the Learning Circle YMCA is initiating healthy habits and smart food choices early on while laying out a foundation for healthy lifestyles for years to come.

5 OUTDOOR PLAYGROUNDS

Students get to have fun in our 5 age-appropriate playgrounds each day (weather-permitting). Each playground has an outdoor gardens created to further enhance the children’s love of the outdoors and nature.

We’re strong believers in keeping kids learning, active and engaged through playtime with different gross motor activities that help them achieve developmentally appropriate milestones and keep childhood obesity at bay.

ENRICHMENT & FIELD TRIPS

Whether it is a trip to the museum, local art show, theatre or the pool, we transport your child safely in our yellow school buses to wherever they may need to be. Children ages pre-school and older take swim and water safety lessons at the Summit YMCA, our sister branch, located less than a mile away. Children also get to play in the full-size Hubbard gym each week. Best of all, it’s included in your tuition.

VP of Early Childhood Education

Having the privilege to help set the foundation for children’s early learning and development is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. Seeing the happy faces of our youngest members each day as they learn and grow in a safe, nurturing environment brings me a sense of joy. I’m incredibly grateful to work for an organization that allows me to witness the positive impact it has on families within the community every day.

TLC Director of Program Administration

I love the YMCA's commitment to promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. I am impressed by the diverse range of programs and services offered by the Y, such as childcare, youth sports, summer camps, and fitness classes. And I am very proud knowing that my everyday job improves, directly or indirectly, the lives of individuals and families in this wonderful community.

Ruby Hollingsworth

TLC Senior Program Director, PreK and ADK

I joined the Y because the YMCA merged with the stand alone childcare center where I was employed. I remained at the YMCA because I realized that my values were aligned with the core values of the Y. The best aspect of my job is working with the children, their families and the staff. I consider it a wonderful opportunity to be able to watch the children learn, grow and thrive. I love supporting the parents and working with the staff to ensure we deliver the best care and education possible.

Why not the Y? The Learning Circle YMCA has been my home away from home for 25 years. I have personally seen its direct impact on this community. I love to see children grow, learn and thrive! In my roles as preschool teacher and program director, I have been blessed to teach many children and partner with families. My favorite aspect of this position is the interactions with our members-knowing that I have positively affected their lives!

When I began my journey at the Y, I never expected to become part of such a vibrant community and family. I deeply appreciate everything the Y stands for and all the positive contributions it makes to both the community and its staff. If I had to highlight my favorite part of my job, it would be working with children! Their curious nature, laughter, and excitement brings me endless joy!
