On Saturday, November 4, we will celebrate months of hard work, teamwork and passion with our Summit YMCA Grand Opening!
In our rich 100-year history, we have proven time and time again that community stands above all things, and we are ecstatic to bring forth this tremendous effort to everybody. We could not do this without the support of the community, and we’re proud to be where belonging begins.
The day kicks off at 9:15 a.m. with the donor wall ribbon-cutting ceremony. Then, the speeches begin with Mayor Nora Radest leading off. Following her words, several other individuals will speak, including Board of Trustees Chair Maria Brugg, Capital Campaign Chair and Board of Trustee Robert Radest, and President and CEO Paul Kieltyka. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., treat yourself to delicious breakfast items, including bagels, yogurt, coffee, granola, and refreshing orange juice. Plus, for the young and the young at heart, there’s face painting, bracelet making, and a whole bunch of arts and crafts to dive into. The popcorn machine in the lobby will be ready to pop up some smiles.
The best part? It’s an all-day Open House, so you can drop by whenever it suits you. We can’t wait to share this wonderful day with you!
If you missed it, here is what’s new:
State-of-the-Art Fitness Center

Featuring brand new exercise equipment, our fitness center now spans two, open-concept floors. Whether you’re creating a custom workout in our modern space or are exercising with one of our personal trainers on our newly installed turf, the Summit YMCA is fully equipped to help you maximize your fitness routine.
Spacious Exercise Studios

Prefer working out with a group of friends under the guidance of an enthusiastic instructor who will pump you up? You can enjoy four beautifully redesigned exercise studios, which feature gleaming floors, sparkling mirrors and all of the indoor cycling, barre, and body pump your heart desires.
High-Tech Teen Center

The Summit YMCA is a home-away-from-home for teens. Our new, 1,300-square-foot Teen Center comes complete with everything middle schoolers and high schoolers need to bond, get mentoring, and practice their esports and coding skills. It’s a safe—and free—space for all teens in our area.
Redesigned Kid Zone

Parents of young children can use the Summit YMCA with the help of our free child watch space—Kid Zone. This room is conveniently located on the first floor of the Summit YMCA, so you can drop your children off easily and get to your favorite class. Best of all, it’s equipped with the staff, toys, and crafts that will keep your children engaged the entire time you’re enjoying the Summit YMCA.
Community Lounges

At the Y, we’re all about togetherness, and our new lounges facilitate that. Come to our main lounge or our new parlor, where you can grab a cup of coffee with neighbors, your favorite YMCA instructor, or one of the many other friends you’re bound to meet when you join the Y.
We look forward to seeing you and adding to the legacy of the Summit Area YMCA!

SUMMIT AREA YMCA
BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA
In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.
Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
