World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10, is an important reminder of how vital mental health is. Just like physical health, mental well-being matters, and at the Summit Area YMCA, we’re committed to building a culture of awareness, support, and resilience. This day invites us to have open conversations about mental health, break down stigma, and share resources for those who need a helping hand.
We understand how crucial mental wellness is for our members and the wider community. Our programs not only focus on physical fitness but also aim to boost mental resilience through community connection and wellness initiatives. By creating a warm and welcoming space, we encourage everyone to prioritize their mental health just as much as their physical health.
Take a look at upcoming activates we have going on to recognize the day:
Line Dancing with Carolina: October 10, 11:30-11:50 AM at the Berkeley Heights YMCA
Puppy Chair Yoga: October 10, 12:00-12:45 PM at the Berkeley Heights YMCA
and more group exercise events at both the Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights YMCA!
To mark World Mental Health Day, the Summit Area YMCA will host a special Zoom presentation all about anxiety. We’re excited to have insights from three fantastic organizations: Anxiety Institute, The Flex School, and Peace of Mind Yoga. These experts will explore the complexities of anxiety and share helpful strategies to better understand and manage these feelings. Plus, you’ll have the chance to submit questions beforehand, making sure the session is relevant to what you want to know.
Reducing Anxiety in Children and Teens Webinar: October 10, 7-8pm:
This event reflects our commitment to enhancing mental health resources in our community. By teaming up with experienced professionals, we hope to offer valuable insights and create a supportive environment for anyone dealing with anxiety. You’ll walk away with practical tools to help navigate life’s challenges.
If you have any questions about this event, please reach out to Tiffany at tiffany.escott@thesay.org. We encourage everyone to take this chance to learn more about mental health and connect with others who may be going through similar experiences. Together, we can build a stronger, more supportive community for all. Stay tuned for the registration link, which will be shared soon!
