Join us for an unforgettable Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the Berkeley Heights YMCA (in partnership with the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council)! We’re thrilled to invite you to this incredible free event on October 15 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and traditions of the Hispanic community.
Experience the rhythmic beats and lively melodies as we celebrate with music and dancing that will make your feet move! Let your creativity soar with arts and crafts activities that showcase the rich artistic heritage of Hispanic cultures. Bring your entire family along because we have a host of family-friendly activities lined up for everyone to enjoy.
And what’s a celebration without food? We’ll be having a potluck where you can bring your favorite dishes from your own cultural background or try out some traditional Hispanic delicacies. It’s an opportunity to indulge in mouthwatering flavors while fostering a sense of community.
If you do plan on bringing food for the potluck, please contact Tiffany Escott or fill out the necessary field within the registration form when prompted with the following information:
• Name of dish
• Country of origin
• Ingredients
• Cultural significance or story about the dish
Additionally, the Y will be collecting donations of diapers and wipes to support the families served by El Centro Hispanoamericano, a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides legal support and social services to low-income immigrants in Plainfield. Please consider bringing a box of diapers or wipes to donate to mothers and children in need. A collection box will be available at the event.
Mark your calendars now for this exciting event! Don’t miss out on this chance to celebrate Hispanic heritage with us at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. We can’t wait to see you there!

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA
In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.
Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
