Beloved Veteran Leader to Oversee the Summit YMCA

Tiffany Escott has been a driving force behind the Summit Area YMCA’s mission—building community, supporting families, and leading with heart. Now, she will bring that same dedication and vision to her new role as Executive Director of the organization’s flagship building, the Summit YMCA.

For nearly 23 years, Tiffany has served as an integral part of the Summit Area YMCA’s leadership team—first as the Youth and Camp Director and later as the Executive Director of the Berkeley Heights YMCA. Most recently, Tiffany led the expansion of the organization’s community initiatives in her role as Mission Advancement Director. In this capacity, she received widespread praise for her success reestablishing the organization’s annual Extra Special Prom for youth with special needs, invigorating beloved cultural events like Lunar New Year and Diwali, and launching initiatives to increase mental health training and awareness throughout the community.

“We’re delighted that Tiffany will lead the Summit YMCA into its next chapter,” said Anjali McCormick, Interim President and CEO of the Summit Area YMCA. “Her knowledge of our organization, combined with decades of hands-on experience serving our members and staff, makes her an invaluable asset. Tiffany truly understands what makes the Y so special to this community.”

In her new role, Tiffany will continue much of her current mission-focused work while overseeing the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of the Summit YMCA. She will also lead a team of senior and program directors to deliver outstanding programs and services that foster the welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment that makes the Y the place it is.

“It is an honor to be chosen as the next leader of the Summit YMCA, which has been embedded in our community for nearly 140 years,” said Tiffany. “Whether you turn to us for our expertise in water safety, wellness, childcare, or sports and enrichment, we’re proud to be a trusted partner in your growth, health, and happiness.”

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.

Please note that the section of Maple Street closest to the Summit YMCA will be closed from approximately 7 AM to 11 AM on Sunday, May 5, for our Mother’s Day 5K. Please use Cedar Street to access the public lot that is next to our building.
