Kindergarten Program

The Learning Circle YMCA’s All Day Kindergarten Program is dedicated to successfully preparing each child for a smooth transition to 1st Grade and Elementary school. This program includes the required academic skills and provides the nurturing necessary to build confidence and positive self-esteem in each child. Our values emphasize caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility, and we are committed to building healthy, confident children who reflect these values.

We offer a 184-day Kindergarten program (beginning September 1 and ending June 30) with over 10 days of additional care (available even when the public school is closed). We serve students breakfast, a morning snack, a healthy lunch and an afternoon snack every day, the cost of which is included in your tuition.

The Kindergarten Curriculum is aligned with Common Core State Standards in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in all other required subject areas, including: Visual/Performing Arts, Comprehensive Health and Physical Education, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, 21st Century, Life and Careers, Family and Life Skills, Technology and World Languages/Spanish.

Enrollment in the Learning Circle YMCA also offers the following enrichment activities:
• SAY Fit Kids
• Special Events/Activities (Families included)
• Community Service Projects
• Local Field Trips as COVID restrictions allow
• Weekly Swim and Gym at the Summit YMCA as COVID restrictions allow

Please note, due to the New Jersey Department of Children and Families Office of Licensing and Department of Health’s Covid-related mandates The Learning Circle YMCA’s hours of operation, fees and program offerings may be subject to change. SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
