Kid Zone & Child Watch

With so many demands on today’s families and the increased focus on early brain development, families need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth. That’s why our Kid Zone focuses on holistically nurturing child development by providing a safe and healthy place to play, make new friends and build self-reliance while parents workout.

A complimentary service to members on family or adult memberships, we provide up to two-hours of supervised care for your child in a safe, enriching environment through non-structured, age appropriate play activities so your little one can develop social skills while you while you participate in activities at the Y, work out or take a class.

PARTICIPATION POLICIES

• Members may drop off their child for up to two hours while using the facility (scroll to see hours below).
• Kid Zone is available for children (ages 6 weeks to 12 years old) to anyone with a Berkeley Heights YMCA & Summit YMCA Family Membership or Adult Membership.
• Light snacks and water are permitted.
• An updated Summit Area YMCA membership waiver must be signed for each member prior to visiting our facility or participating in any Y programs. Parents/guardian must complete the waiver for each minor child. This only has to be completed once.

OUR TEAM

The Kid Zone child watch program is staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids, the need children have to feel connected and supported in trying new things, and the caring and reinforcement parents and families need to help each other.

The safety of your children is our top priority. Parents, teachers and students with education and training in child development make up our team of dedicated staff. Strict reference and background checks are conducted on all YMCA staff and volunteers. All staff are required to be trained in and certified in infant and adult CPR and First Aid.

YMCA NEWS

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
