The Summit Area YMCA makes strengthening our community is our cause. Every day we provide the resources needed for all to grow, learn and thrive. We nurture life lessons in kids, foster health and well-being at every age, and bring neighbors together to pursue their passions, building a better us for all.
Financial assistance at the Summit Area YMCA can be used for membership, child care, summer camp, enrichment and sports programs where additional fees apply, such as soccer or swimming lessons. Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply.
For any community member in need, please reference The Summit Hunger Coalition’s Food, Supplies and Financial Assistance Directory, provided by the Summit Hunger Coalition.
In response to community need, the Summit Area YMCA is proud to offer free programming open to all members of our local community. These programs include 7th Grade Initiative, Child Abuse Prevention Training, Healthy Hearts Cardiac Maintenance, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Cancer Rehabilitation, Military Memberships, Educational Lectures, Cultural Events, Special Needs Activities, Second Grade Learn to Swim, Teen Programs like college prep and more.
The Family Pack Program – a collaboration among the Y, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, and The Junior League of Summit -- provides supplemental weekend meals to hungry families in need by discreetly providing the children with backpacks of food every Friday during the school year. We currently serve the children in Summit schools who receive free or reduced-priced meals during the school week but who may not have access to food over the weekend.
To provide healthy living options for our community during New Jersey's statewide stay-at-home mandate, the Summit Area YMCA provides free virtual workouts through the SAY's Youtube videos, Y360, LesMills, Life Fitness, Mossa and more. Pursue your wellness goals, no matter whether or not you are at the Y or at home.
We are dedicated to youth development and encourage all children to stay engaged and active while at home and at the Y. Our Summit Area YMCA Child Care and Youth Enrichment program staff have created a variety of activities and collected resources to share for families, parents and children to enjoy while they spend time at home.
The Summit Achieve Community Garden is a parcel of land where community members may grow organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs to enjoy and promote healthy eating and sustainable living. Apply online for a plot!
The Summit Area YMCA is committed to supporting the communities we serve through the Togetherhood™ Volunteer Program. The Y has established a Social Responsibility Service Committee to identify community needs and lead projects that help our members give back and support their neighbors. This volunteer initiative is focused on supporting our communities through Senior Outreach, Cultural Engagement & Special Community Projects.
