COVID-19 Policy Updates

YOUR HEALTH MATTERS

Updated March 2022

Our commitment to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility includes providing a safe, welcoming environment for all, and we continue to uphold our health protocols and enhanced cleaning practices in order to do so. We have incorporated and implemented several new policies and measures into our operations in regards to safety, capacity, cleaning, etc. in order to keep you and your loved ones safe within our facilities and programs. The Summit Area YMCA follows guidance from the New Jersey Governor’s Executive orders, the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) and the Center for Disease Control. At this time:

>> Masks are OPTIONAL for members, program participants, students, guests and staff at all SAY locations.

We continue following the changes that occur around us closely. If revisions to our safety protocols, programs and/or operations are necessary, the YMCA will update them and share any changes with its members and program participants.

Masks are OPTIONAL for members, program participants, students, guests and staff at all SAY locations.

If you are immunocompromised or in frequent presence of others who are, it is recommended that you continue wearing a mask in all public settings, including the YMCA and practice social distancing whenever possible.

Postpone any visit to the Y when you are not feeling well or have any COVID-19 related symptoms.

We encourage everyone to continue washing your hands often with soap and water.

Please wipe off equipment before and after each use. Paper towels, disinfectant and disinfectant wipes are available for your personal use.

We ask that our members demonstrate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility toward each other and our dedicated staff at all times.

We encourage you to practice the health and safety measures that make you most comfortable.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact us or speak with our Member Services team upon your visit to the Y.

We care about the health and safety of our employees, our members and our community and we value your support as we continue our commitment to healthy living, youth development, social responsibility and providing a safe, welcoming environment for all.

Equally we know everyone wants the pandemic to end. As an important member of our Y family we need your help in continuing to fight COVID-19 by practicing good health and safety measures. In demonstration of our core YMCA values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility, we encourage you to get vaccinated if you can, wash your hands frequently, clean your equipment before and after use, and stay home if you are sick.

The Berkeley Heights YMCA is outfitted with the Global Plasma Solutions Bipolar Ionization HVAC system and the Summit YMCA uses MERV 13 filters to clean and disinfect the air for your safety.

In efforts to provide a safe and clean environment for all, the Summit Area YMCA continues to practice the following health & safety measures:

• Enhanced cleaning practices and increased frequency
• Encourage social distancing
• Distribution of cleaning spray bottles for personal use
• Follow guidelines provided by NJ Department of Health, Governor’s Executive Orders and CDC
• Follow guidelines provided by NJ Department of Health, NJ Department of Children and Families Office of Licensing and American Camp Association for our licensed child care, after-school, and summer camp programs

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
