When you entrust your child to the Y, we strive to fulfill our promise to make each day an opportunity for your child to learn, grow and thrive. We aim to combine academic excellence with the joy of learning. We weave the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all that we do. This sets the stage for a happy, healthy child.
The Pre-K curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey State Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. The tool used to teach these standards is the Creative Curriculum. The learning materials in the Pre-K classrooms provide the children with opportunities to broaden and strengthen their knowledge through a variety of developmentally appropriate experiences.
The curriculum content areas laid out in the Preschool Teaching and learning Standards are: English Language Arts, Approaches to Learning, Mathematics, Science, Social/Emotional Development, Visual/performing Arts, Social Studies/Family and Life Skills, Health/Safety/Physical Education, Technology and World Languages.
Please note that the section of Maple Street closest to the Summit YMCA will be closed from approximately 7 AM to 11 AM on Sunday, May 5, for our Mother’s Day 5K. Please use Cedar Street to access the public lot that is next to our building.
