YMCA PROMISES AN EXCEPTIONAL SUMMER AT THE SPRINGFIELD COMMUNITY POOL

Following a successful three-year partnership, the Township of Springfield has renewed its contract to have the Summit Area YMCA operate the Springfield Community Pool, ensuring residents have a recreational oasis this summer.

Registration is now open for the Springfield Community Pool, which offered a reprieve from the summer heat last year. The pool, which has been a staple of the community for nearly 60 years, is situated on a beautiful 15-acre property and features everything from a main pool with water slide to a kiddie pool, playground, picnic area, basketball and volleyball courts, robust snack bar, and more.

“Spending the summer at the Springfield Community Pool is an important tradition for so many families in the area, and it’s our honor to keep this tradition going in 2024,” said Summit Area YMCA President and CEO Paul Kieltyka. “We provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where families can create cherished memories together.” Beyond the pool’s amenities, residents can look forward to the diverse array of enriching programs the Summit Area YMCA will be running there. From its Camp Cannonball for kids to poolside games for seniors, the pool will have activities for people of all ages and interests.

“For all of us at the Summit Area YMCA, the opportunity to continue operating the Springfield Community Pool is about bringing our neighbors together for some healthy outdoor fun,” said Summit Area YMCA COO Terri Clinton. “Whether you’re looking to improve your confidence in the water through our swim lessons or simply want to soak in the sun and bond with others, the pool has physical and therapeutic benefits that will help you make the most of summer.”

A special benefit of this partnership between the Township of Springfield and the Y is that residents can choose to join the pool at a reduced rate by becoming a Summit Area YMCA member, granting them access to the state-of-the-art facilities at the Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights YMCA as well. With more than 200 group exercise classes offered each week, top-notch fitness centers, free child watch through Kid Zone, sports and enrichment programs, and indoor pools, this option offers families year-round fun.
