Vineyard App Coding Camp

Are you ready to make websites and apps? In this hands-on, nationwide coding club, you’ll learn invaluable 21st-century skills by building apps – your own app and apps for different nonprofits.

During the Vineyard App Camp, students learn to design and coding principles while building and launching their own marketing campaigns and apps under the guidance of experienced teachers. This is different from other programs in that students don’t just learn how to design or code, but they immediately see the impact they’re making, sparking an interest in technology and entrepreneurship.

Our curriculum achieves transformational outcomes. Our curriculum is based around the principle that every session, students experience a personal growth moment by completing something entrepreneurial that they can show off to others in their lives. This helps them fall in love with entrepreneurship and feel empowered. The curriculum we teach in all of our program formats is the same. All classes have a low student teacher ratio.

• Learn basics of HTML, mobile app structure, database and React Native

• Use Javascript and programming logic to build an interactive iOS app from start to finish

• Practice prototyping and design thinking principles with engaging activities

• And more!

The Vineyard App Summer Camp, ages 11-14, combines summer camp fun with courses in computer programs, giving kids and teens the opportunity to create games, apps, and more. Such programs provide students hands-on experience with AI, modding, cybersecurity, and other in-demand topics. Coding is a fun social activity where teens can meet other like-minded kids. Financial assistance is available.

As a nonprofit, the Summit Area YMCA is committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families in our community. We do so by offering financial assistance to those with demonstrated need so that they may enjoy all the Y has to offer, regardless of their ability to pay. This helps us ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Applicants must live or work in the Summit Area YMCA service area which includes Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Financial assistance can be used for membership, childcare, summer camp, enrichment, sports programs and more where additional fees apply, such as soccer and swimming lessons.
