HOW DO I REGISTER FOR SUMMER CAMP?

You can register online at thesay.org/camp or in-person at the Summit YMCA, Berkeley Heights YMCA or The Learning Circle YMCA. Early bird registration pricing is offered until February 28, 2021.

If you are having trouble registering for camp and need to reactivate your child’s membership, please complete the Membership Change Request form. We will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm the change was processed so you can complete your camp registration. If your payment method is no longer on file, we will contact you for one. Please be sure to include an accurate phone number in your request. During the camp season, online registration closes on Tuesday at midnight for the following week of camp. Any registrations after the deadline will be accepted on an exception basis only with approval of Camp and/or Branch Executive Director and is subject to availability. Late registrations will be subject to a late fee.

 

WHEN DOES MY CHILD NEED TO WEAR HIS/HER CAMP T-SHIRT?

Your child can wear their camp t-shirts anytime but must wear them on ALL field trip days as our brightly colored camp t-shirts help us easily and quickly identify and keep track of our campers when we are traveling. Each camper is provided with two camp t-shirts. Extra t-shirts may be purchased for an additional cost.

WHEN DOES MY CHILD GO ON FIELD TRIPS FOR SUMMER CAMP?

Once camp begins, please refer to the weekly trip schedule for each camp posted online at thesay.org/camp.  

WHAT WILL MY CHILD BE DOING AT SUMMER CAMP THIS WEEK?

Parents will receive an email from their child’s camp director the Thursday before the camp week begins and following camp to share what they've done. This email will provide information that pertains to the upcoming week’s events. Once camp begins, parents can also view a general daily schedule and a trip calendar for camps at thesay.org/camp

WHERE DO I PICK MY CHILD UP FROM SUMMER CAMP?

Parents may drop-off and pick-up campers directly from their campsite, including off-site locations like Sports Camp, Camp Cannundus, LIT, Specialty Sidekick, Travelers Camp and Teen Trek held at the Watchung Reservation. The SAY offers transportation to and from off-site locations and the YMCA for an additional fee (View Transportation Options). 

HOW DO I GET TO THE WATCHUNG RESERVATION?

DO I NEED TO SEND LUNCH FOR MY CHILD EVERY DAY OF SUMMER CAMP?

Yes, please send a lunch for your child every day as we do not provide lunch. For summer camps that are located outdoors, we strongly recommend that you include an ice pack to keep the food cool.

CAN YOU APPLY SUNSCREEN FOR MY CHILD AT SUMMER CAMP?

Per child safety guidelines, we are not permitted to apply sunscreen for your child. However, we will teach your child how to correctly apply and reapply sunscreen and remind them periodically during the day to protect themselves from the sun at summer camp. Please remember to pack sunscreen for your child.

WHEN DOES EARLY BIRD PRICING END FOR SUMMER CAMP?

Early Bird Pricing ends on February 28. We encourage you to secure a spot early and take advantage of this special lower pricing by using the promo code EBP2021 at registration checkout.

WILL I GET A REFUND IF MY CHILD CANNOT ATTEND SUMMER CAMP THE WEEK I AM SIGNED UP FOR?

Summer camp deposits are non-refundable. Camp fees may be refunded before May 1 at the discretion of the Camp Director and/or Registrar.

IS THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA OPEN DURING THE SUMMER?

The Learning Circle YMCA is open 51 weeks of the year for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. We also provide an age-appropriate month-long camp experience during the months of July and August for children ages 3 through 7.

This helps us ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Applicants must live or work in the Summit Area YMCA service area which includes Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit.
