In efforts to improve communication, the Summit Area YMCA has implemented a text alert system for campers enrolled in outdoor and travel summer camps. The purpose of the text alerts is to inform parents of any location changes due to weather, facility issues, program or field trip emergencies, etc.
Text alerts will be sent on an as needed basis only. Recent messages (if any) can be viewed below.
The Summit Area YMCA will be adding the cell phone contact information for Parent 1 that was provided on the Q&A form when registering for camp into a text group each week based on your child’s camp enrollment. You will receive a text message from SAY Summer Camp informing you of your addition to the text alert group towards the end of the week prior to your child's camp session. Please note: you must accept the request (by replying YES) to subscribe to receive our text alerts. If you do not accept the request or opt out of receiving our text alerts, you will not receive any communication about location changes due to weather, emergencies, etc. Due to the complexities of enrollment, new text alert groups are created each week of camp.
All regular camp communication and information will be sent as usual via email. If a true emergency occurs involving your child at summer camp, you will be contacted via telephone (not text message).
