Yes, you can use the Summit YMCA for a $3 per visit fee or upgrade your membership to a Berkeley Heights YMCA All-In-One membership and eliminate the $3 per visit fee.
All-in-One memberships allow you full access to the Berkeley Heights YMCA, Summit YMCA and over 700 participating YMCA's in the United States and Puerto Rico - at no additional cost. Standard Berkeley Heights membership types will require a $3 fee per visit to the Summit YMCA.
The benefits of nationwide membership reciprocity (which offers Y members free access to over 700 participating YMCA's in the United States and Puerto Rico) are eligible for All-In-One Family and All-In-One Adult members only. If you are not currently an All-in-One member, you may upgrade your Berkeley Heights YMCA membership to an All-in-One membership which would make you eligible to use the Summit YMCA and other YMCAs participating in the Nationwide Membership Reciprocity Program.

A family membership consists of up to two adults and any dependent children age 22 and under residing in the same household. If one of your adult relatives resides with you, you may add them as the second adult to your family membership. A third adult family option is also available for an additional monthly fee. The third adult must reside in the same household.
Yes, Berkeley Heights YMCA family members may sign their children up for classes at the Summit YMCA at the member rate (some restrictions may apply).
There is a 45 day grace period in which you may rejoin without having to pay another joining fee.
Yes, members may place their membership on “hold” for a period of up to two months per year.

The 7th Grade Membership program gives all 7th graders in our service area a free membership at either the Summit YMCA or the Berkeley Heights YMCA. This memberships allows 7th graders, at a pivotal and transitional time in their lives, a safe place to come and stay fit and healthy under the supervision of trained staff. The duration of a 7th Grade memberships at the Berkeley Heights YMCA runs from September through August. At the Summit YMCA, they run from June through May.
Yes, our Y offers short-term memberships for full-time college students. One and two month options are available during school breaks. College students must provide proof of full-time student status. Full-time student status consists of 12 credits/semester for undergraduates; 9 credits/semester for graduate students.

Yes, as a benefit of your membership, our members are entitled to three complimentary orientations in the Fitness Center. To make an fitness equipment demo appointment, please call our Member Services desk or stop by the Fitness Center desk for assistance.
Yes, adult members may bring up to 5 guests per year, certain restrictions apply. Teen members may bring up to three guests per year. All teen guests under 18 must be signed in by their parent/guardian at the Member Service desk. Guests can also request their own guest pass. All guests must complete a liability waiver form prior to using our facilities. Limit 3 total combined complimentary visits per year to Summit Area YMCA locations.

We’d love to have you come in to try our Y. Come in for a tour and you can try the facility at no cost.
All changes to membership (upgrades, downgrades and holds) must be made by the 25th of the month prior to ensure proper billing.
Members must submit, in person, at least 1 business day prior to bill date, the YMCA Membership Edit Form to cancel their membership. Once the form is received, the member will have one more payment and their membership will remain active for the entire month after that final payment is made.
If you have a Family membership and your parents are living with you, they can be added to your family membership for an additional $30 (per person). If you are not a member, your parents are welcome to register at our YMCA for a short term membership.
If you have a Family membership and your child is under 23 years old, s/he can be added to your membership at no additional charge.
However, if your returning child is 23 years or older, you can add them for an additional $30 a month. If you have an Adult membership, you can upgrade your membership to a Family membership and s/he can be considered the second adult. Or s/he can get his/her own adult membership.
We can waive the joining fee if you are joining us within 45 days of leaving another YMCA and you have already paid the joining fee there. A letter from your prior YMCA is required. Since our joining fees are used to fund building and equipment maintenance, we cannot waive your joining fee, however there are times we run promotions with a reduced joining fee. Be sure to inquire about membership specials when joining.
We offer several memberships that have reduced membership fees:
Summit YMCA: You can fill out a locker request form available at Member Services. There is typically a waiting list for the men’s locker room. Once contacted, you have the choice to pay automatically on your credit card monthly ($8) or pay in full yearly ($100).
Berkeley Heights YMCA: You can rent a locker for six months. Please see Member Services for assistance.
We can draft from your checking account if you give us a voided check and fill out the monthly draft form. However, we cannot accept monthly payments by check. All membership dues are automatically generated and require a payment method on file.
Yes, we offer free 2-hour babysitting in our Kid Zone for children of Family and Adult members. We accept children from six weeks to 12 years old. Members must be in the facility.
At both the Summit YMCA and the Berkeley Heights YMCA your membership is month to month. We do not have contracts, but you do have to agree to our Code of Conduct.
The YMCA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. To promote safety and comfort for all, individuals are asked to act appropriately at all times when in our facility or participating in our programs. We expect persons using the YMCA to act maturely, behave responsibly, and respect the rights and dignity of others. Our Members Code of Conduct outlines prohibited action; the actions listed on the Members Code of Conduct are not an all-inclusive list of behaviors considered inappropriate in our facilities or programs.
