Childcare at the Y

The early years in a child’s life are some of the most important in their lives and will help them become the person they will grow up to be. The Summit Area YMCA provides nurturing and happy environments where children have the ability to discover their potential and develop their skills. With so many demands on today's families, parents need all the support they can get. That’s why we offer full-time and full or part-week options to meet your needs and offer flexibility for your schedule. We offer childcare, early education, before and after school care, holiday care and summer camp for children as young as 6 weeks old through grade school.

Whether you enroll in one of our Early Education, Beyond the Bell or Summer Camp Programs your child’s growth and development will increase each day in our state-licensed Childcare Centers. With caring and qualified teachers and through the use of theme-based learning and constant communication, we support enriching and encouraging each child’s individual success.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

As a nonprofit, the Summit Area YMCA is committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families in our community. We do so by offering financial assistance to those with demonstrated need so that they may enjoy all the Y has to offer, regardless of their ability to pay. This helps us ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Families with low or moderate household income or those who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to apply. Applicants must live or work in the Summit Area YMCA service area which includes Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Financial assistance can be used for membership, childcare, summer camp, enrichment, sports programs and more where additional fees apply, such as soccer and swimming lessons.
