At the Y, we work together each day to make a meaningful difference in the lives of everyone who walks through our doors. The Summit Area YMCA (SAY) is much more than a “gym and swim” facility. As a cause-driven organization, we welcome people of all ages and abilities, and our promise is to strengthen community and foster wellness in spirit, mind, and body.
While in our Ys, you are our number one priority. We’re here to support in any way we can! We put this guide together to ensure the start of your Y experience is the best it can be.
If you haven't already done so, please visit the Y and request your membership barcode ID. Then, add the barcode ID to your SAY Mobile App to scan at check-in when you visit. As a member of the SAY, you have access to all that the Berkeley Heights YMCA & Summit YMCA both have to offer!
Use your phone to scan into the Y for easy check-in, view group exercise classes, open gym and lap swim schedules, reserve your spot in classes, engage in fitness challenges for prizes, track your workouts, earn member rewards, register for programs, receive important facility notifications and more — all with the click of a button!
Visits to our fitness centers do not require a reservation, however members are required to scan in and scan out of our facilities to maintain accurate capacity counts. Please check the capacity meter before your visit to our Ys to minimize any potential wait time.

With guidance from local and state authorities, we have incorporated numerous safety measures and cleaning protocols to keep our members, children, & staff safe and healthy while in our Ys. Our Welcome page addresses and answers most of our members’ questions about our Y.
Our Y is proud to offer an extensive variety of fitness classes, small group training, lap swim and open gym sessions for you to choose from each week. Reservations are required for most classes. View schedules and make reservations online or via the SAY Mobile App.
When you are unable to join us in-person, you don't have to miss your workout! Our virtual fitness studio includes a growing library of on-demand workout videos that you can search through by category, instructor, intensity, target area and more for you to enjoy your workout, your way. Whenever and wherever you need it!
In under one minute, the InBody scale (located in both of our Fitness Centers) provides you with a complete body composition analysis that measures your body's muscle, weight, fat percentage, hydration levels and more. This free, in-depth tool helps manage your body’s changes and progress over time.
