Gardening Fun for the Whole Family: Join Our Square Foot Workshop!

Discover the world of gardening!

Get ready to dig into a fun and educational gardening experience with your family! We are thrilled to announce that the Summit Area YMCA will be hosting a Square Foot Gardening Workshop on Saturday, April 15th from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at our Summit ACHIEVE Community Garden.

This event is perfect for families looking to learn how to grow their own vegetables and herbs using the innovative technique of square-foot gardening. Join us as we partner with the Reeves-Reed Arboretum and their Director of Education, Althea Llewellyn, to provide a hands-on learning experience that will benefit both you and the environment.

Althea is an experienced facilitator who will guide you and your family through the process of planning, planting, and maintaining a square-foot garden. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, you'll gain valuable knowledge and skills that you can apply in your own backyard.

Best of all, this event is completely free and open to all members of the community! We do ask for a donation on the registration link, but it is not required to attend. Plus, if it rains, we have made arrangements to use the Springfield Community Pool Meeting Room to ensure that this event is rain or shine.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to bond with your family, learn something new, and give back to the community. Register for the Square Foot Gardening Workshop today. We can't wait to see you and your family there!

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring, and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling, and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
