Volunteer in Your Community this Summer

APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 1 – 20, 2017 FOR JULY 2017 VOLUNTEENS PROGRAM

For teens looking for a chance to make a difference within their local communities, the Summit Area YMCA provides the VolunTEENS program. The VolunTEENS is a program for students, ages 14-16, who are looking for community service experience, want to help others, and are interested in learning more about the cause and mission of the Y to help build stronger communities.

Teens are able to do community service based on their interests and skill set. The Y works with each student to provide the best giving experience possible–both to the community and for the teen. Opportunities include helping with sports classes, assisting marketing and social media, working with younger students, elderly, and more. Included with the program are several opportunities in job professionalism trainings, improving resumes, as well as college and career opportunities.

The Summit Area YMCA is a community cornerstone that provides financial assistance in order to ensure all are able to have access to its many programs and services. The Y’s commitment to building a stronger community starts always with the individual–through youth development programs, services that promote healthy living, and providing opportunities and raising awareness in giving back to the community and those in need. The VolunTEENS program allows our young people to learn the importance in using their strengths to provide a service towards others, especially to those seeking assistance.

To apply, please complete the volunteer application and ensure you have indicated VolunTEENS under program of interest.

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.

Please note that the Hurst Pool at the Summit YMCA will be closed on Sunday, March 31, 2024 and will reopen on Monday, April 8, 2024 due to regularly scheduled maintenance. Group Ex Pro will reflect amended aquatics schedules.
