The NEW SwimPro Swim Clinics will allow your child to practice sets with our very own SUMMIT AREA YMCA swim team coaches! Swimmers ages 10 to 16 can train to keep up with their swimming skills. When it comes to staying fit and active, there’s no better way than by swimming. Swimming is a great workout for the whole body, and it’s also a lot of fun!
Here are some of the benefits to participating in swim clinics and other swim related programs at the YMCA:
1. They’ll Stay Fit and Active
Swimming is a great way for kids to stay in shape at any time of the year. It’s a low-impact workout and a great cardio workout. Just a few laps in the pool can burn a lot of calories, so it’s a great way for kids to get their daily exercise.
2. They’ll Learn a Lifesaving Skill
Knowing how to swim effectively is a lifesaving skill that every child should learn. Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children, but it’s also one of the most preventable.
3. They’ll Make New Friends
The YMCA is a great place for kids to make new friends and continue to build upon their social-emotional skills in a fun and safe space.
4. They’ll Boost Their Confidence
Swimming can be a great confidence booster for kids. It’s a skill that they can be proud of, and it’s something that they can use for the rest of their lives. As they master different strokes and techniques, their self-esteem will continue to grow.

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring, and respect — are integral to everyday operations.
Each year, as one of the areas’ leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
