The Y offers a variety of child care programs parents may need. We nurture the child’s development by providing a safe place to learn fundamental skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Our Preschool Program (Ages 3-5) stimulates interest and creates awareness of different people, objects and experiences through the use of cooking, music, science, nature, swim and gym, computers, arts and crafts, story-time, and dramatic play. Full day and half days are available for three, four or five days each week.

The Kindergarten Wrap Program is designed for children enrolled in half day kindergarten and offers an extended day option by providing flexibility for working parents. Our program enriches your child's day with fun, educational, and creative activities. Three, four or five day options are available.

Before School Care at the Y Program (Grades 1-5) offers parents the flexibility to drop off their child at the Berkeley Heights YMCA where care is provided from 7:00 a.m. to school time. Transportation is then provided to the appropriate elementary school.

After School Care at the Y (Grades 1-5) isan enrichment childcare program for children of working parents. At the end of the school day children are transported from their local schools to the Berkeley Heights YMCA for an afternoon of activities including homework time, structured recreational activities, quiet time, outdoor play, and snacks until 6 pm. Three, four and five day options are available.

Offsite Before School Care Program (Grades 1-6) offers parents the flexibility to drop off their child at the Salt Brook and a. W. Roberts schools. For those being dropped off at New Providence schools, care is provided from 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The child is then released to their classroom at the opening bell. Two, Three, Four and Five day options are available.

Offsite After School in School (O.A.S.I.S.) is an after school program where children grades 1-6 stay at their designated New Providence grammar school and can participate in various activities including quiet time, homework, indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts group games and projects. Two, Three, Four and Five day options are available.

Extended Care is our program at the Berkeley Heights YMCA where your child can stay a half hour longer from 6 PM to 6:30 PM three, four or five days each week.
