Planks & Thanks - Join the Planksgiving Challenge

Join us in celebrating Planksgiving, and have some fun on your way to a stronger core! Participate in 30 days of thanks and planks by challenging yourself to go further for longer each day you participate. Beginning November 18 - December 15, get into a plank position and hold for the designated amount of time and you'll be entered to be eligible for a prize for each day you succeed!

how to play

You must complete the day's plank challenge in front of a Fitness Center staff member who will monitor you while you plank in a designated plank station for the daily allotted time. To plank, lay on the floor with your elbows under your shoulders, hands flat on the floor and core engaged. Keeping your forearms and knees on the floor, slowly raise yourself upwards until your body is in a straight line from your knees to your head. Hold the position for as long as that day's challenge requires. If needed, the plank position can be modified to a push up position with your arms full extended.

Participants can complete only 1 plank challenge per day and receive only 1 entry ticket to be entered for the prize drawing, per successful completion. Submit your entry tickets with your name and contact information in our drawing box, located at both the Berkeley Heights YMCA Fitness Center Desk & Summit YMCA Front Desk. Happy Planking!

Prizes

There will be 1 winner per branch and the prize includes a 45-Minute Personal Training Session! Winners may only receive one prize. The drawing will take place on December 19.

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
