On this Veterans Day, we praise our servicemen and women, who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country with bravery and perseverance.
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” —Joseph Campbell, and how important it is for us to recognize and celebrate them!
We invite you to take a moment today to thank a Veteran for his or her service and sacrifice. Their honorable choice made to protect us is one that should be appreciated always.
As a small token of our appreciation please stop in our lobbies on Friday morning, November 11, at the Summit YMCA & Berkeley Heights YMCA to enjoy a light assortment of breakfast foods.
Through the Military Outreach Initiative the Summit Area YMCA offers free family memberships to active duty military families to assist the needs of families of deployed military personnel and those who live far from a military installation and require access to child development, family strengthening, and health and wellness programming. Eligible military families and personnel include active duty or deployed personnel of the Armed Services, their spouses and families (dependent children). FREE Military memberships are given in 6 month intervals and are renewed by request.
For more information or take advantage of this special membership offer, please contact us.
In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.
Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
