Message from the CEO - Staying Safe & Healthy in 2022

January 6, 2021

To our YMCA Members & Friends,

As COVID-19 continues its way through our communities and beyond, the Summit Area YMCA wants to remind all members, parents, students, staff, and guests the importance of practicing good health and safety measures in and out of the Y.

• While those who are vaccinated may follow the safety measures they feel most comfortable with, we encourage all to wear masks in crowded places or around those who’s daily COVID-19 exposure status is unknown or high, social distance when possible, and wash your hands frequently with soap and water.

• For those who are not vaccinated, we encourage you to get the vaccine. To confirm, masks are required at the Y for those who are unvaccinated, all childcare students, and SAY staff.

Stay home if you are feeling sick or have COVID-19 symptoms and get tested to reduce further spread of the virus.

Please be assured that we are in contact with the New Jersey Department of Health weekly, and all staff and programs are following the most recent safety guidance and procedures provided by the state.

Although not anticipated, our programs, offerings, schedules, and capacity may be subject to change upon short notice in light of this influx. We value your support and appreciate your patience as we all navigate through the COVID-19 waves once again. Rest assured, in continuing our commitment to healthy living, youth development, social responsibility and providing safe, welcoming opportunities for all, the Y will persist in adapting with the demands of our community to accommodate you as your needs and schedules change as well.

If revisions to our safety protocols, programs and/or operations are necessary, the YMCA will share updates with members and program participants.

Thank you for your cooperation, be safe and well.

Sincerely,

Paul Kieltyka
President & CEO

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
