Summit Area YMCA Set to Host Its Annual Laugh Out Loud Charity Auction and Comedy Club

A Night of Raising Funds to Support Our Local Community

The Summit Area YMCA is keeping its tradition alive of making people laugh for a good cause by hosting its Annual Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Charity Auction and Comedy Night on September 18, 2021—and you’re invited! The event will take place at 7:00 PM and you can join us in person or virtually, in our transformed outdoor oasis at the brand-new Berkeley Heights YMCA (limited space available) or online from the comfort of your own home.

As our guest, you’ll enjoy a memorable evening of laughter, food and drinks in good company with the opportunity to bid on and win a variety of fabulous auction items all in support of the Y. Most importantly, it will be a night of raising funds to further our mission and strengthen our local community. Help fight food insecurity in our neighbors homes, provide a place for cancer survivors to reclaim their health, offer a nurturing environment for children of working families, and more—all by supporting the Summit Area YMCA!

Guests will be entertained by veteran auctioneer Pat Tully and comedian John Poveromo while raising funds to support those in our community who need it the most. By attending the event, guests can help ensure that everyone, regardless of their age, income, or background, has access to the Y’s life-changing programs.

When asked about his role in this event, Pat Tully said, “As a proud member of the YMCA in NYC, I know how important The Y is for my community and for the people who depend on its services. I look forward to bringing the energy, fun, and skills necessary to raise important funds for the Summit Area YMCA. Let’s go!”

Donations to the SAY provide direct financial assistance for those who would otherwise be unable to afford childcare, camp, health and wellness programs, and more. They also ensure that the Y can offer a number of free programs to benefit the community. These include its Livestrong program that allows cancer survivors to strengthen their bodies, Fridays in Motion for special needs youth, and food distribution programs that provide meals to those who are food insecure.

“We’re looking forward to this year’s LOL Charity Auction and Comedy Night as a time when our community can be together after so much isolation,” said Kaitlin Casey, the SAY’s Vice President of Advancement. “There’s no better way to come together, both physically and metaphorically, than by gathering to help our neighbors in need.”

LOL is made possible by a number of generous community sponsors, including its gold sponsors, Bristol Myers Squibb, Summit Dental Partners, USA Architects, Vericon Construction, and the William Gross Charitable Fund, as well as its platinum sponsor, Capital Group.
