Join us on June 11 from 5:30 - 7:15 PM at the Summit YMCA for this fun Arm Balance Workshop led by Day Booth! You will learn the how-tos of different yoga poses including Crow, Side Crow, Eka Pada Koundinyasana 1 & 2 and Astavakrasana.
The goal of this workshop is to work towards feeling comfortable balancing on our hands. We will warm up to prepare our bodies and work with our muscles to get ready for the poses we will be learning. There will be variations/modifications of the poses offered along the way to suit your practice. We will be using yoga blocks as a part of these exercises. This workshop can serve as an introduction to arm balance for beginners or to sharpen your form for those who have experience. Please bring along your yoga mat, blocks, towel, water and the most importantly, a smile!
The cost for this workshop is $20 for members and $35 for non-members. Registration is required.
According to Harvard Health Publishing from Harvard Medical School, some studies have suggested that yoga helps to "lower blood pressure in people who have hypertension." and "improved lipid profiles in healthy patients as well as patients with known coronary artery disease. It also lowered excessive blood sugar levels in people with non-insulin dependent diabetes and reduced their need for medications." In the United States, according to the CDC, 1 person has a heart attack every 40 seconds. Taking an extra yoga class or two will definitely help in making sure your heart is strong and healthy!
The Summit Area YMCA offers a variety of Yoga & Meditation classes weekly at the Berkeley Heights YMCA and the Summit YMCA. Since group size is limited, pre-reservations are required. Reservations are available through the SAY Mobile App or our Online Schedules tab
