Spring 2021 Group Exercise Updates

We wanted to let you know what you might expect as the warmer weather approaches as it relates to the Summit Area YMCA's group exercise offerings. Please be assured, we continue to abide by the Department of Health’s (DOH) guidance on indoor exercise which states that it is safe to do so. DOH requires that we employ robust cleaning protocols, wear masks (some exceptions apply), and that our members/staff be socially distanced. Thus,

- We are working to expand, the number of classes and formats offered as needed (high intensity, cardio, strength training, yoga and meditation, stretching, etc.). We continually evaluate participation in order to best serve the interests of our members.

- We will offer an assortment of outdoor classes mostly which require no equipment be moved in and out of the facility -- due to the significant wear, tear, and damage to the equipment considering our financial resources and constrained staffing. Some exceptions will apply to specialty classes and events.

- We will explore offering some mask-optional exercise options for interested participants that fall under the Department of Health guidelines for high-intensity fitness activities.

- We will continue to embrace our commitment to keeping you safe while you participate in Y activities. This remains our #1 priority so we can ensure we are here for you for the long term.

We thank you in advance for your understanding, patience, and flexibility and we too eagerly await the return to normalcy. We look forward to seeing you soon at the Y!
