Berkeley Heights YMCA Offers Weekly Exercise for Individuals with Parkinson's

For those living with Parkinson's disease (PD), a neurodegenerative disorder that may often cause tremors in the hands, limb rigidity, balance problems and more; individuals are now able to improve their symptoms through the Parkinson's Exercise class at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. While the disease can feel debilitating, it is possible to experience good to great quality of life with PD, according to the Parkinson's Foundation. Through a community partnership between the Summit Area YMCA and Atlantic Rehabilitation, The Parkinson's Exercise Program is available to both YMCA members and community members.

The program is a science based exercise program that caters to improving Parkinson's Disease and MS symptoms with specific exercises that help restore lost function. In addition to fitness, participants can also enjoy the benefits of the company and support of not only instructors but other participants with similar experiences and symptoms.
