Important Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA Update

September 17, 2020

Last week we were excited to turn on the pool heater at the Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA for the first time. Since then, the heater has malfunctioned and we just learned that the replacement parts which need to be special ordered will not get to us before the pool season ends on September 27, 2020. This means that the pool will remain unheated for the remainder of the season and the water temperature will be too cold for members to swim safely. The weather for this weekend is forecast to be cold with the highs in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s. As a result, we will close the pool for the season on Friday, September 18, 2020 after the morning lap swim sessions are completed. We sincerely apologize as we know you will be disappointed to hear we have to end the pool season this way.

For Berkeley Heights Pool members who have been participating in lap swim, we invite you to lap swim in our indoor pools at the Summit YMCA through September 27, 2020 if you are a Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA member only. If your home branch is either the Summit YMCA or the Berkeley Heights YMCA, the pool is open for you to enjoy as a benefit of your regular membership.

Your safety and comfort is our priority and so we encourage you to learn more about indoor lap swim protocols, schedules, lane reservation policy, what to expect when you arrive for check-in, safety and cleaning and more by please clicking here.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We truly value that you are a part of our Y family and are looking forward to a full summer season in 2021!

Sincerely,

Tiffany Escott
