A Message from the CEO: Updates on Facility, Membership & Programs

Updated March 25, 2020

Dear Summit Area YMCA Members & Friends,

We trust you are staying healthy in spirit, mind and body during these extraordinarily challenging times. We appreciate your support and want to assure you that we are working hard to secure the future of our YMCA and the well-being of our members, staff, donors and community. Our doors may be closed but our mission remains open!

As you know, at this time Governor Murphy is requiring that all gyms and schools remain closed until further notice to protect against the spread of COVID19. As a result, we also expect to be closed until further notice. Our 134 year old YMCA is a cause-driven, non-profit organization and your dues form the basis of our work to strengthen the community.

We ask you to stay with us as a YMCA member throughout this time and choose to support our Y as we support our community by easing food insecurity through the Family Backpack Program and food/supplies drives, staying connected via phone with our seniors and other at-risk members, offering a variety of free virtual programming and workout options, and resources for our youth to stay active while at home.

During the period of the closure, starting April 1:

We have stopped ALL upcoming charges (either scheduled for the 1st or 15th of each month) for your membership until we are confirmed to open.

All memberships will be placed on a temporary HOLD.

• Many of you have told us you would like to donate your membership dues to the Y while we are closed. Thank you for your commitment to our Y and your generosity! Now, more than ever, your continued support means everything and we truly appreciate your tax-deductible gift which will help us continue providing services and programs to members and the community.

Please click here to donate your membership dues and we’ll take care of the rest. If you’d like to make a one-time gift, please click here.

All program fees will be put on HOLD including those for youth sports classes, leagues, clinics, enrichment classes, swim lessons etc. until we open again. We will apply a credit to your account for any classes/sessions that were cancelled due to the facility closure. If you would prefer a refund, please click here.

Now, more than ever, we are grateful for the resiliency and vibrancy of our members and community. You are very much in our thoughts. Please stay healthy and be well. We can’t wait for you to walk through our doors again.

Sincerely,

Paul Kieltyka
