The New Berkeley Heights YMCA Scheduled to Open on February 6!

The new Berkeley Heights YMCA is scheduled to open its doors to members officially on February 6, 2020!

For over 10 years, The Summit Area YMCA has been working to find a permanent location for the Berkeley Heights YMCA, so that the Y can better serve the evolving needs of our growing, diverse communities. While the Y serves the community as a wellness and fitness, school age and childcare center, it is so much more to their members. As a cause-driven, non-profit organization, each day at the Y is about nurturing, building, and sustaining relationships to strengthen individuals in spirit, mind and body.

This historic moment is captured, as the new facility is the first new YMCA branch built in NJ in over 10 years. The state-of-the-art facility located at 59 Locust Avenue is truly “40,000 square feet of amazing”! Complete with superior modern amenities, members can look forward to more room in their three group exercise studios and more of their favorite group exercise classes, including the addition of many new ones, an expansion of adult sports offerings available made possible through the new full size gymnasium, like basketball, pickleball, soccer and volleyball, a dedicated functional training space to host the exciting new MX4 small group fitness experience, along with a special offer to all Summit Area YMCA members to try their first two MX4 sessions for FREE, an impressive fitness and wellness center with brand new state-of-the-art equipment, a spacious kid zone for children and the adult members who utilize their free babysitting service, a welcoming lobby, comfortable social lounge, 195 parking spaces and even more programs and services for children to reach their full potential through education, the arts, enrichment and sports! Did we mention the new Olympic-size seasonal heated outdoor Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA and outdoor playground opening this summer?! Learn more about the pool and secure your early bird savings by registering for your pool memberships now through February 29, 2020 at www.thesay.org/BHCP

The new branch allows the Y additional opportunities to serve even more children, teens, adults, families and seniors, and expand its collaborative efforts with local organizations and partners to so that it can create additional programs to serve more people. The Summit Area YMCA is grateful to the Berkeley Heights community including YMCA members, local donors, and the township itself, for its support of the Y and its mission. The Y believes their more than $14 million investment in the community, will cement it as a true community leader for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for years to come.

“It is not about the building, square footage, or the pool. It is about expanding our mission, expanding our impact. It is about having the ability to really change lives. And, that’s what we’re celebrating, our ability to do this!” said Summit Area YMCA President & CEO Paul Kieltyka.

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.
