Summer time is the best time to discover and hone our creative skills and talents! At the Summit Area YMCA, campers can uncover their hidden potential and creativity through art focused camps like Paint with A Purpose, Messy Art, Fashion Design or Recycled Creations. According to the Public Broadcasting Service for Kids, art and visual learning is a catalyst for developing motor skills, language, decision making, improved academic performance, innovation and cultural awareness. Through artistic creation and instruction, children have the opportunity to develop a sense of innovation and achievement when encouraged to express themselves in art—an important correlation to the development of a well-rounded, forward-thinking, and resilient adult.
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to explore and develop creativity through various mediums like paint, clay, and paper maché in Messy Art—a camp designed to help your youngster discover their creativity while learning about different ways to make art. Go green with us as we make modern masterpieces out of recyclable materials in Recycle Creations Camp, a great way for campers to problem solve and think inventively about their sculptures!
Love the arts but want some traditional day camp too? Try Camp Lagoon, where kids get a healthy mix of group games, arts & crafts, field trips to local attractions, and daily swimming. This camp is perfect for keeping your child active and engaged in both mind and body throughout the day!
Learn more traditional art techniques in Paint with a Purpose, where campers learn about the techniques and uses watercolor and acrylic paint to create original treasures. Campers can channel their inner Picassos or Van Goghs to create their masterpieces, in which a joint project will be donated to the community at the conclusion of the camp.
For campers interested in fashion and creating their own outfits, Fashion Design Camp is the perfect fit! Campers learn practical and technical skills for this ever-evolving industry. Learn what it takes to become fashion designer, and then explore the fashion district in NYC to see how it all comes together in the real world!
