Bonnie Anderson has been a member of the Berkeley Heights YMCA for four years. She joined the Y to participate in our free 12-week LIVESTRONG® exercise program after being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing surgeries.
Bonnie has the distinction of being New Jersey’s first female industrial electrician! She is also a strong advocate for mesothelioma patients and legislation for research funding and the banning of asbestos in the US. Bonnie has a BA in Elementary Education and Library Science from Kean University and is currently retired from her position as librarian of Millburn Middle School. Bonnie’s hobbies include gardening, reading and horses.
Bonnie’s favorite aspect of the Berkeley Heights YMCA is the caring trainers and classes geared toward older people. She also enjoys the warm greeting she receives from Frank whenever she checks into the Y. Bonnie participates in the LIVESTRONG® Program and balance classes. She also enjoys the machines in the Fitness Center and using light weights to build strength and stamina.
Bonnie’s best advice to others who are seeking a healthy spirit, mind and body is “Don’t give up; just do it…and get a massage weekly!” Since joining the Y, Bonnie has made friends and now has regained the stamina and balance to travel. Bonnie says she loves the Berkeley Heights Y and we love having her as part of our Y family!
