The Berkeley Heights YMCA recently renovated several interior spaces to better serve and exceed the needs of members. The spacious new weight room sports some superb new equipment including an air assault bike, battle ropes, plyo boxes, Olympic benches, Matrix squat rack, Cybex Bravo Cable machine, 4- station Cybex cable jungle gym and a lat pulldown station. Members may also use the open space in the room to stretch, jump rope, or do abdominal exercise work.
Adjacent to the weight room is a specially designed area equipped with TRX bands and wall mounted bars. TRX Suspension Training leverages gravity and the individual’s bodyweight to perform numerous exercises that tone and strengthen the body. Simply adjusting body position adds or decreases resistance and impacts the difficulty level of the workout. Members must sign up in advance as classes fill up quickly.
The calm and intimate new MindBody studio, complete with mirrors, wall mounted bars, and beautiful wood floor enables members to enjoy Barre, Yoga, and other group exercise classes.
The Berkeley Heights YMCA, a branch of the Summit Area YMCA, has an ongoing commitment to better serve its members and community, and welcomes all to try out the newly renovated facilities. The Y’s cause is to strengthen the community by nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
“By enhancing our facilities we hope to encourage members and others in the community to engage with the Y not only to reach individual wellness goals, but to also enjoy the Y as a welcoming, stigma-free, inclusive facility where one can volunteer one’s time, socialize and make new friends. We think you’ll be pleased with what you see,” said Tiffany Escott, Executive Director. “If you’re looking for another good reason to get inspired to stay fit, just ask us about a 20% savings on your membership.”
