Start Out on the Right Foot - 7 Fitness Tips to Help You Achieve Your Goals!

"The Distance Between Your Dreams and Reality Is CallED Action."

Stop waiting for tomorrow and take action today! For the new year, the Summit Area YMCA is pleased to bring you new programs, new fitness equipment, and new classes to make your fitness experience better than ever!  Even more exciting, we have put together seven tips to help you be the best YOU in 2019 and bring those goals to fruition.

GOAL 1: START OUT ON THE RIGHT FOOT

On day one of the new year (or the eve before) members can come to the Summit Area YMCA for a New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day workout.

You can find the schedules to the branches here. In addition to classes, our facilities and equipment will be open and available for use during the New Year holiday.

Stay consistent in the New Year by keeping track of your workouts with our handy Y Mobile App on Apple Store or Google Playstore or with Activtrax, our digital workout planner!

GOAL 2: work on POWER & STRENGTH

At the Y, we offer high intensity classes so you can push yourself harder than ever, and take your conditioning to the next level -- building lean muscle, while getting into great shape. Consider:

• Les Mills Body Pump & CXWORX
• Martial Arts & Combat
• Primal Fitness
• Strong
• Barre Sculpt
• TRX
• and many more

GOAL 3: develop ENDURANCE

With invigorating music, a fun atmosphere and a bike, indoor cycling is an intense full body workout where you can not only ride for miles and miles but burn up to 900 calories per class. Or challenge yourself with one of our cardio programs designed to get your heart pumping.

• Greet the Beat
• HIIT Cycling
• Race Day Cycling
• Power Cycling
• INSANITY
• Cardio HIIT
• Strong
• and more

GOAL 4. find BALANCE, FLEXIBILITY AND INNER PEACE

Connect your spirit, mind and body with Yoga, Meditation, Barre Sculpt and Pilates. Through mindfulness and multiple controlled movements, you will improve your flexibility, strength and balance.

• Gentle Yoga
• Vinyasa Yoga
• Intro to Yoga
• Chair Yoga
• Reiki & Restorative Yoga
• Primal Yoga
• Hot Glide
• and more!

GOAL 5: have FUN!

Learn the steps to popular Bollywood (Hindi film) moves, or shake your hips and burn lots of calories in Zumba! Dancing is a great way to have fun and let off steam all while being social, no matter your experience level! Check our our dance classes at the Y:

• Zumba
• Cardio Salsa
• La Blast Cardio Dance

GOAL 6: TAKe ON NEW CHALLENGES

The Summit Area YMCA will be having new challenges every month starting in January!

Sign up for the January Burpee Challenge at the Summit YMCA or the January Jumpstart Challenge!

Join in and get rewards points (you can track it through your Y mobile app!) and prizes!

GOAL 7: try something new

At the Summit YMCA, you can look forward to new state-of-the-art fitness equipment to try, new classes, new schedules and so much more.

About the Summit Area YMCA

The Summit Area YMCA is one of the area’s leading 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. Founded in 1886, the Summit Area YMCA has a history steeped in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income and background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Each year, we serve more than 10,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the communities of Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Millburn, Springfield, Short Hills, Summit, Gillette, and Stirling. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those with demonstrated need.
