January 2019 Means New Beginnings at The Summit Area YMCA!



This January, the Berkeley Heights YMCA is excited to be offering a series of Introductory Fitness classes for those brand new to exercising or those looking for a foundation class to build upon.

Intro to Cycling Tuesdays 5:00PM – 5:45PM, January 8, 15, 22, and 29 - For members brand-new to Indoor Cycling. Learn proper set up, proper body mechanics, hand positions and more. You will learn firsthand why Indoor Cycling is loved by so many!

Intro to YogaThursdays 5:45PM – 6:45PM, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 - For members brand-new to Yoga. You will learn safe alignment in foundational poses, mindful transitions and breath awareness. During this 4-week series you will increase flexibility and strength. At the conclusion, you will have developed the skills and confidence to transition into an all-level skills Yoga class.

Beginner Group FitnessThursdays 6:15PM – 7:00PM - Beginning in January and continuing throughout the year. Learn the basics of participating in a group fitness class with a cardio and strength focus. Find the modifications that are appropriate for you. Learn proper form and technique to prevent injury.

Also in January, The Berkeley Heights YMCA will be offering additional evening and early morning group exercise classes such as Body Sculpt, Les Mills Tone, Friday Fitness Fix, and more indoor Beginner Fitness classes. There will be extended Kid Zone hours on Friday evenings to give parents peace of mind while they workout and our free Healthy Hearts & Cardiac Maintenance Exercise Program that can help those at risk of cardiac disease or those recovering from a cardiac event.
