[BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ, October 31, 2018] - On Saturday, November 17th, The Summit Area YMCA in partnership with the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council will be hosting a special community celebration of Diwali for the second year. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. As part of our commitment to strengthening the foundations of our community by welcoming diversity and inclusion, we invite people of all cultures and faiths to join in the celebration.
Held at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, the Diwali Festival will feature activities for all ages including ceremonial music and dance performances, henna applications, special arts & crafts activities and a chance to hear the story Diwali and learn about its many ceremonial rituals and customs. Traditional Indian cuisine will be available for purchase.
Check out some of our performances from last year in the video below!
