The Summit Area YMCA and the Berkeley Heights Community Pool (BHCP) have entered into a partnership whereby the Y will manage the pool for the 2016 season. The pool is located at 59 Locust Avenue in Berkeley Heights and has served the residents of the community for over 60 years.
The BHCP will host a special open house on Friday, June 3 from 5 - 8 pm. (Rain date June 4, 2016 12:00 – 3:00pm) All YMCA members and the public are invited to join this special evening for free. Registration is required at using Community Pass at http://register.communitypass.net/BerkeleyHeights - “Pool Parties 2016”. New prospective members planning on attending this event may take advantage of the $100 off the current family membership ($550) and joining fees will also be deferred for 1 year.
Dinner will also be available for purchase throughout the open house at the new Snack Shack, now run by Paolo's Kitchen.
Both organizations are dedicated to strengthening communities and serving families which makes the collaboration a true partnership. Beyond being an organization committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the YMCA offers exceptional aquatics programs which include swim lessons, as well as an opportunity to try out for the prestigious YMCA Seals team.
The BHCP is able to leverage the YMCA's wealth of expertise across all aquatic activities including pool management, lifeguard training, swim instruction, as well as facilitate significant economies of scale in the future to help move the partnership forward. Jimmy Rath will serve as the Head Aquatic Director. He has several years of both indoor/outdoor pool experiences and has been with the Summit Area YMCA for several years. He holds certifications as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Lifeguard Safety Instructor (LISI) as well as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
