Since 1964, the Berkeley Heights Community Pool has not only provided an oasis for summer swimmers to enjoy the pool, but have also fostered a sense of community and promoted the importance of family and friendship amongst neighbors.
The Berkeley Heights Community pool facilities include a fenced in kiddie pool, a main pool that ranges from 2 to 11 feet deep, two diving boards, a slide, and lap lanes for swimming throughout the day. The facility also offers basketball and tennis courts, volleyball and vast grounds with plenty of loungers and Adirondack chairs. The Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA team is also excited to announce that birthday parties, special events and pool rentals will be available this season, as well as community events such as movie nights and grade level socials.
Each member, 18 months and older, will be issued an identification swipe card that is linked to her or his Summit Area YMCA account. All members must present this card each time they visit the Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA. We are recommending that our members follow the directions below to receive and verify their swipe cards.
New Members (not registered in 2017): Visit either the Berkeley Heights or Summit YMCA branch to receive your BHCP swipe card and have your photo taken prior to Opening Day. New members can visit either branch beginning May 15th. Active Berkeley Heights or Summit YMCA members ages 12 and older do not need to receive a new swipe card. Active members can use their current Summit Area YMCA swipe card to access BHCP.
Returning Members (previously registered in 2017): Call either the Berkeley Heights or Summit YMCA branch to verify that the barcode number printed on the back of the BHCP swipe card matches the one in your account. If it matches, you can use your 2017 season swipe card. If not, a new card will need to be issued.

With our members’ safety in mind, we've trained 12 great individuals for the sole purpose of joining our staff. The Lifeguard Course is over 24 hours (over 4 days) of hands on work, which not only requires strong swimming abilities, but also the ability to work proficiently as a team. We are proud to have trained and hired such strong candidates and look forward to all they will contribute to the BHCP staff.
The Berkeley Heights Community Pool is seeking to hire more lifeguards, swim instructors and front desk staff. On-site training for staff available to give the skills and certifications necessary to help save lives and prevent injury and drowning.
The YMCA’s cause is to nurture the potential of youth, encourage and motivate healthy living, and promote volunteerism for community members to give back to others. “We are proud of our rich heritage and tradition, and want the community to know that, as a cause-driven, mission oriented non-profit, we offer needs-based financial assistance to those interested in membership, childcare, camp, and programs.” said Mike Mirabella, Director of Berkeley Heights Community Pool. “The Y is an inclusive organization that welcomes all regardless of their financial or physical circumstance and we are grateful for the opportunity to be able to serve the Berkeley Heights community.”
The Summit Area YMCA is one of area’s leading 501c3 organizations. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, our programs and services are open to all regardless of financial circumstance.
